Hawke’s Bay is a region blessed with a great climate, lovely nature and many resources. A visit to the Farmer’s 
Market or the local galleries and delicatessens will provide many examples of quality products and beautiful designs produced by locals.
A conversation with a stallholder at the Farmer’s Market sowed the seed that grew to be the online department store that Love Hawke’s Bay now is. Having been asked a casual question about his work the man at the stall replied "I only wish I could do this fulltime, but I have to go to work to earn enough money to live on. I just do this in my spare time."
For many small producers the effort, time and money required to reach a market outside their immediate area is a daunting or even impossible project. People are good at what they are good at. Those who are creative and inventive use their talent to “do their thing” while others can be creative in a different way and build something that benefits both the person who produces the goods and the one who helps them reach a wider recognition.
We hope that everyone involved will benefit from this enterprise: The producers, the Love Hawke’s Bay Limited business and perhaps even the region. The Internet provides the perfect medium to slowly expand our market.
All goods sold on this website are made in Hawke’s Bay by locals. Some of the raw materials come from other parts of New Zealand or elsewhere in the world, but the design, the effort and the production happens right here. During the process of building the business we acquired some bigger players as well: Classic Sheepskins and the Kiwi Sock Company are already well known in the wider world but agreed to let us retail their goods, which adds to the impact and variety of what we have to offer.
